ZaneNet Wins Recertification as State-Designated MSO

On December 31, 2015, the Maryland Health Care Commission (MHCC) approved Zane Networks’ application for Management Service Organization (MSO) State Designation.  The award continues ZaneNet’s MSO status for another two years. According to MHCC, the recertification “demonstrates that your organization has met criteria intended to ensure high quality business operations and the existence of sound privacy and security policies… We look forward to our continued partnership to address the challenges associated with provider adoption of health information technology.”

ZaneNet Exhibits at MACo Conference

In August, ZaneNet participated in the Maryland Association of Counties (MACo) Summer Conference in Ocean City. Responding to the event’s slogan, “Energize. Mobilize. Capitalize,” an estimated 2,000 local government officials, county staff decision-makers, legislators, business representatives, and exhibitors convened at the Roland Powell Convention Center to learn about the current economy from the local government perspective and the strategic partners available at all levels of government. ZaneNet hosted a booth at the exhibit, and staffers attended presentations of interest, meeting with government and business leaders to discuss common concerns.

CRISP and eClinicalWorks Partnership

CRISP is working with eClinicalWorks to integrate to enable practices to receive bi-directional HIE data directly into their electronic health record. As part of this project, practices will be connected directly to the CRISP eCW hub, allowing this data to be exchanged automatically, so that providers do not need to leave their systems.  Practices that use the eClinicalWorks EHR system and are interested in exploring this program are encouraged to contact ZaneNet or CRISP to get more information about this initiative and to participate.

Open FDA Eases Public Access to Health Data Sets

In June, FDA announced the launch of OpenFDA, an initiative from the FDA Office of Informatics and Technology Innovation (OITI,) designed to make it easier for developers, researchers, and the public to access and use its large health data sets in a structured, computer-readable format, using a search-based Application Programming Interface (API). Maryland’s State Payor Updates

Maryland is the first state to require state-regulated payors to provide incentives to select health care providers (practices) to promote the adoption of electronic health records (EHRs).
